Kokoda Challenge 2021

July
2021

We are proud to announce that the team exceeded our fundraising goal and would like to thank all of those who donated to this very worthwhile charity, which raises funds for the series of programs run by the Kokoda Youth Foundation.

A special “THANK YOU” also needs to be extended to: All involved from the Kokoda organisation, for facilitating such a well-planned and memorable event Dan Ogden and Matt Simmons for feeding, watering and keeping our spirits up at check points Andrew Orr for chauffeuring us to and from the Gold Coast early in the morning Stephanus Snyman, Ben Watling and Ben Lonergan for agreeing to torture themselves with me.

Kokoda Challenge 2021

The BIM one team were (initially) excited to be a part of the 2021 Gold Coast 96 km Kokoda Challenge – and then the reality of the enormous task ahead set-in.

Despite a minor hiccup in the lead up to the event – with our new Undergraduate Engineer Ben Lonergan stepping up on 10 days’ notice, to fill in for the injured Dan Ogden, we made it to the finish line – in 27 hours.

About the Kokoda Challenge

These programs encourage youth in our local communities to undergo life changing experiences, allowing them to reach their full potential as young adults.
