The BIM one team coordinated multiple subcontractors – combining our design and construction experience and applying engineering judgement to optimise each of the investigation processes.
Our approach to providing temporary traffic management for the investigations involved BIM one directly engaging a Traffic Control provider for all work activities, streamlining the process for TGS preparation and application for traffic permits from TMR and Logan City Council – rather than each individual subcontractor making multiple applications
Our approach ensured TMR received the greatest value for money, whilst delivering the scope of the investigations within extremely tight timeframes.
The primary advantage of the BIM one pre-design investigation philosophy is that the design consultant can proceed with confidence in the data provided by the client.
This allows the design consultant’s focus to remain on the timely delivery of design activities and reduces the inefficiencies inherent with coordinating multiple subcontractors undertaking site investigations in parallel.
BIM one initially undertook a detailed technical Gap Analysis on behalf of TMR, which identified an existing suite of utility and geotechnical investigations that were completed during 2009 – this enabled a more tailored approach to supplementing this existing data, rather than starting from scratch.
